What we collect, and why.
Gauge and Forge is an interview copilot for interviewers: a website for preparing interviews and a Chrome side panel that listens beside Google Meet. This page covers both.
Your account
You sign in with Google, or with an email address and password, through Google Firebase Authentication. We keep your name, email address, and the preferences you set (time zone, default interview length, and how you mostly take part in hiring). The side panel signs in with the same account and keeps its session token in Chrome's extension storage on your computer.
What you add to prepare interviews
- Roles: the job description you upload or paste, and the brief you write for it.
- Candidates: the résumés you upload, the name and contact details read from them, the Meet link, time and round of each interview, and the outcome and private notes you record afterwards.
During an interview
The side panel captures audio only after you press Start, and only from the Google Meet tab you started it on, plus your microphone. The audio goes from your browser straight to Deepgram, which transcribes it. Audio is never sent to or stored on our servers. We receive and keep the transcript text, the questions asked and suggested, and how much of each topic was covered. Capture stops when you end the interview or close the panel.
How it is used
Only to provide the product to you: suggesting questions during the call, tracking coverage, building each interview's rubric and opening question, and writing the post-interview summary and score you rank candidates by. To do that, the relevant text (job description, résumé, brief, and transcript) is sent to the AI providers below. We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models, and our use of information received from Chrome follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Who processes it
- Google (Firebase Authentication) — sign-in.
- Deepgram — speech-to-text for the interview audio.
- OpenAI, Microsoft Azure OpenAI, Cerebras and TypeSafe — the AI models that read the text above.
- MongoDB Atlas — the database where your data is stored.
- Microsoft Azure — the server that runs the service.
Candidates
Interviewers use Gauge and Forge to process information about the people they interview. The interviewer, or their organisation, is responsible for telling candidates that the conversation is transcribed and for having a lawful basis to do so. A candidate who wants their information removed can ask the interviewer, or contact us directly.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep your data while your account is in use. Résumés you upload but never schedule are deleted after a day. To have your account, or any interview or candidate, deleted, contact us and we will remove it from our database.
Contact
Use the contact email on our Chrome Web Store listing for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion.
